Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Jalilabad Olympic Sports Complex.
On July 31, 2012, President Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening ceremony of the Jalilabad Olympic Sports Complex, constructed by INTEX LLC. After cutting the ribbon symbolizing the official opening, the Head of State familiarized himself with the conditions created in the complex.
In the foyer, photo displays reflect the attention and care shown by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev towards the development of sports in the country.
The territory of the Olympic Sports Complex covers five hectares. The indoor sports hall has an area of 1,168 square meters. Here, 1,712 spectators can watch competitions in mini-football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, judo, taekwondo, and other sports. All necessary conditions have been created for hosting high-level competitions. The flooring of the hall was installed using special technology to ensure high-quality performance of sporting events. The second floor also draws attention with its spaciousness and modern design, housing various office and sports rooms.
In the pneumatic shooting range installed by the Azerbaijan Shooting Federation, equipment manufactured in Germany is used. Athletes are trained here using the technology of the “Höring” company. A large gym operates within the complex. In addition to equipment for seventeen types of sports, visitors can enjoy billiards and table tennis. In the chess room, up to 10 people can learn the secrets of this ancient game at the same time. A wall-mounted display board is used to teach the finer points of chess to young players.
The five-lane swimming pool also meets the most modern standards. Its length is 25 meters, width – 12.5 meters.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed that an artificial-turf football pitch has been built on the territory. The stands of the football field have 1,963 spectator seats. Two running lanes have been constructed alongside the pitch. In addition to the football field, the area includes a tennis court, basketball and volleyball courts. A green zone consisting of 500 trees and shrubs has been created.

“I warmly congratulate all of you! The opening of the Jalilabad Olympic Sports Complex is a very significant event. I am very pleased that today we are attending the opening of this beautiful complex together with you.
Indeed, this is very important for Jalilabad district, for the comprehensive development of Azerbaijan, and for the progress of sports in our country. I am very glad that this complex meets all standards both in terms of its exterior and interior design. A beautiful swimming pool, a large sports hall, a gym, open playgrounds, a stadium, a hotel.
The Jalilabad Olympic Sports Complex is different from the complexes built in previous years, and I am sure that it will serve Jalilabad athletes and residents of the district. I am pleased that Jalilabad now also has its own Olympic Sports Complex. Sports traditions have always existed in Jalilabad.
